Your Weekly Updates

Currently I don't know of too much going on for me... but that's because I don't yet have my ProxCard to the student government office. As soon as I get that, you'll see plenty more updates on your student government.

Your president has recently met with Sally Mason to discuss the UI budget, and that meeting went very well. Other UISG executives are continuing working on their projects as well. Stay tuned!

Your Weekly Updates

Good afternoon. Your weekly updates here should help you keep up to date on the activities of your student government, as we work towards bettering life for students at the University of Iowa.

Currently, President Mike Currie is strengthening the University of Iowa Student Government, meeting with administrators, UISG executives, and getting everyone started in their roles. He is working on ensuring good use of the basement of the IMU, and will be touring the new fitness center next week. Vice-President JD Moran has started work on the Big 10 student government conference which should occur near August, while also focusing on platform initiatives.

UISG Executives are currently getting started on a number of platform initiatives: office supplies and business cards have been ordered, our legislative branch is preparing for next year, and City Council Liaison Jeff Shipley will be attending city council meetings all summer.

Speaker Pro-Tem for UISG's legislative branch will be Cassie Creasy.

Completely New UISG Website

Your UISG President, Vice-President, Executives, and Senate Leaders want to reach out to students at the University of Iowa more than ever. I am currently working on designing, and then developing, a new website for UI Student Government. Not only will this website be designed in a very Web 2.0 way, it will be more interactive than ever. Features so far will include

  • A Better Design

  • Plenty of Information

  • Polls for students to vote in

  • UISG Videos

  • Audio Podcasts

  • Current Events

  • Our Blog

Student Government

Your new University of Iowa Student Government executives and legislators are ready to get to work on initiatives for our students. This blog is being updated by the soon-to-be-created position of Technology Director for UISG as we work on developing a new, more interactive website for your student government. This temporary blog will cover the latest updates for your student government until the transition into this new website is complete.
